The origins of the winery date back to the middle of the 19th century. At that time, both the Amoignon and Matrot families started trading and growing wine separately. In 1904, Joseph Matrot and Marguerite Amoignon married and formed the basis for today's Domaine. Today, Thierry and Pascale Matrot run the estate together with their two daughters Adèle and Elsa.
The Domaine Matrot produces a wide range of "Village" and 1er Cru Burgundy wines, both white and red. Domaine Matrot bottles all the wines itself and nothing is sold to trading houses - the demand for its products is much too big for that. Thierry and his wife Adèle received reinforcements from their daughters Elsa and Adèle. Elsa has a university degree in oenology and Adèle has a master's degree in wine trade and is also an oenologist. The aim of the younger generation is to maintain the family business and to further develop it.
Matrot has in recent years become one of the top producers in Burgundy because of its great quality consistency in quality. This is not only recognized by us. We only have a small allocation, of which an important part ends up in our own basement! But we would be happy to share the rest with you.
